Maserati Mexico

Named to celebrate Maserati's 1-2 finish at the final Mexican Grand Prix Formula One race in 1966, the Mexico was built on a shortened Quattroporte chassis. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti and built by Carrozzeria Vignale, it featured elegant proportions with a long hood, short deck, and distinctive quad headlights. The 4.2-liter or 4.7-liter V8 engine, using four Weber carburetors, produced 290-310 horsepower and provided effortless performance. The interior was lavishly appointed with Connolly leather, Wilton carpets, and burled walnut trim. Only 250 examples were produced during its eight-year run, making it exceptionally rare. The Mexico offered similar performance to Ferrari's 365 GT 2+2 but with more distinctive styling and greater exclusivity.

$100,000 – $200,000

Verify authenticity with Maserati Classiche as values are substantial. Inspect thoroughly for rust - the steel body and chassis are vulnerable. Check the V8 engine runs smoothly without smoke or unusual noises. Test Weber carburetors for proper operation. Verify the ZF transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. Examine interior quality and completeness - replacement parts don't exist. Check all electrical systems including gauges and lights. Look for complete history and service records. Be prepared for specialist maintenance costs. Join the Maserati Club for support. Values range from $100k-$200k for good examples. The Mexico offers Ferrari performance with greater rarity.
