Honda S600 Roadster

Drawing directly from Honda's motorcycle racing success, the S600 featured an advanced DOHC four-cylinder engine that revved to 8500 rpm, producing 57 horsepower from just 606cc. The unique chain-driven rear suspension and four carburetors demonstrated Honda's innovative approach. Despite its tiny displacement, the S600 could reach 90 mph and established Honda's reputation for high-revving, reliable engines that would define the brand for decades.

Rust is the primary enemy, especially in door sills and floor pans. Chain drive requires regular maintenance. Parts are scarce outside Japan. Verify engine compression as rebuilds are expensive.

Honda's first mass-production automobile. Featured unique chain-driven rear axle inherited from motorcycle design.
