Pagani Huayra R Track Only V12 NA

The Pagani Huayra R, unveiled in 2021, represents the absolute pinnacle of Horacio Pagani's engineering philosophy. A track-only hypercar limited to 30 examples, the Huayra R features a bespoke naturally aspirated V12 engine that is arguably the most advanced non-turbocharged twelve-cylinder engine ever fitted to a car.

The engine, designated RA, was developed in collaboration with HWA AG (the former motorsport arm of Mercedes-AMG). Displacing 5980cc, the naturally aspirated V12 produces 850 horsepower at 8250 rpm and revs to a stratospheric 9000 rpm, a figure that would have been remarkable even for a Formula One engine a generation ago. The engine uses a flat-plane crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication, and individual throttle bodies for each cylinder, creating an exhaust note that Pagani describes as a modern reinterpretation of a 1990s F1 engine sound.

The body is constructed entirely from Pagani's Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 composite, an evolution of the material used in the Zonda R. At 1,050 kilograms, the Huayra R is lighter than the smaller Zonda R, a remarkable achievement given its larger dimensions. Extensive aerodynamic development, including a massive T-wing at the rear, full-length diffuser, and active aerodynamic elements, generates over 1,000 kilograms of downforce.

The chassis features pushrod suspension at all four corners with Ohlins TTX36 dampers, an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with lightweight calipers. Every component has been designed specifically for the Huayra R, with no carry-over from the road car.

Inside, the cockpit is pure racing car, with a carbon fiber dashboard, digital display, and removable steering wheel. The attention to detail and quality of finish, however, remains distinctly Pagani, with the same obsessive craftsmanship applied to even the most functional elements.

The Huayra R was sold out immediately at a price of 3.1 million euros before taxes, with each of the 30 examples customized to the buyer's specification through Pagani's bespoke program. It represents the ultimate expression of the naturally aspirated V12 hypercar, a dying breed in an era of electrification and turbocharging.
