Isuzu 117 Coupe
The Isuzu 117 Coupe stands as one of the most beautiful Japanese cars ever made, with styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Ghia. Introduced in 1968, it featured clean, timeless lines that aged gracefully over its 13-year production run. The hand-built coupe used a sophisticated 1.6-liter DOHC inline-four producing 120 hp, mounted in a front-engine, rear-drive chassis. Early models were essentially hand-assembled, limiting production to just a few units per day. A 1.8-liter engine was added in 1971. The 117 offered genuine grand touring capabilities with comfortable seating for four, excellent build quality, and refined road manners. Despite its limited production and high price, the 117 Coupe earned a devoted following in Japan and became Isuzu's flagship. Later EC (Economy) models traded some luxury for broader appeal.
