History
Isuzu Florian
The Isuzu Florian stands as a fascinating relic from when Isuzu competed in the passenger car market before focusing on commercial vehicles. Styled by Italian design house Ghia, it featured elegant European-influenced lines uncommon in Japanese cars of the era. The Florian pioneered diesel passenger car technology in Japan, offering multiple diesel engine options alongside conventional gasoline units. Its combination of sophisticated styling, advanced diesel technology, and Isuzu's truck-derived durability created a unique proposition. However, poor marketing and competition from established brands kept sales modest, making surviving examples extremely rare and historically significant.
