Sunbeam Tiger Mark II

When Rootes Group needed more performance from their Tiger, they upgraded to Ford's 289 cubic-inch V8 for the Mark II. This created an even more potent Anglo-American hybrid, though tighter engine bay packaging made servicing challenging. The Mark II featured revised side striping, egg-crate grille, and other subtle styling changes. Production lasted only six months before Chrysler's acquisition of Rootes forced the Tiger's demise, as Chrysler wouldn't allow a Ford-powered car in their lineup. The Mark II's rarity makes it the most collectible Tiger variant.

$65,000 – $110,000

Rarer than Mark I with only 571 built. Verify authenticity with chassis number B382 prefix. Many Mark I cars have been backdated or upgraded. Check for proper Mark II features: 289 engine, egg-crate grille, Mark II badging and striping. Engine bay extremely tight - inspect for damage from removal/installation. Rust in chassis rails and body are common issues.

Only 571 Mark II Tigers were built from December 1966 to June 1967. Production ended when Chrysler acquired Rootes Group and refused to continue building a Ford-engined car. The Mark II was distinguishable by its side striping and egg-crate grille.
