Koenigsegg CC850 Manual/Auto

The Koenigsegg CC850, announced in 2022, is perhaps the most technically ambitious road car ever created. Built to celebrate Christian von Koenigsegg's 50th birthday, it combines retro-inspired design cues from the original CC8S with the most advanced powertrain and transmission technology the company has ever developed. Limited to just 70 examples, it has already become one of the most sought-after hypercars in history.

The CC850's most revolutionary feature is its Engage Shift System (ESS), a transmission that defies conventional categorization. Using a multi-clutch configuration with no traditional gear sets, the ESS can operate as a true six-speed manual with a clutch pedal and gated shifter, or seamlessly transform into a seven-speed automatic. The driver simply chooses their preference, and the transmission adapts accordingly. This feat of engineering took years to develop and is entirely unique to Koenigsegg.

Powering the CC850 is a development of Koenigsegg's 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank V8, producing 1,385 horsepower on E85 fuel. This figure is not a coincidence; it matches the car's curb weight of 1,385 kg, giving the CC850 a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio just like the celebrated One:1 before it.

The design pays homage to the CC8S that started it all twenty years earlier. The enclosed headlights, rounded body surfaces, and overall silhouette recall the original car, but every detail has been refined with two decades of accumulated knowledge. The dihedral synchro-helix doors remain, now even more dramatic in their operation.

Underneath, the CC850 uses Koenigsegg's latest carbon fiber monocoque and Triplex suspension system. The Triplex uses a third damper element that resists both dive and squat while allowing independent wheel movement, a solution that provides both exceptional ride quality and supercar-level body control.

The interior reflects Koenigsegg's evolution from a raw supercar maker to a luxury hypercar manufacturer. Fine leather, machined aluminum, and carbon fiber create an environment that is both driver-focused and genuinely luxurious. The manual gear shifter, with its visible gate pattern, is a work of art in itself.

With all 70 units spoken for before the first car was delivered, the CC850 demonstrated that there remains enormous demand for cars that prioritize driver engagement alongside extreme performance. In an era of increasingly automated hypercars, the CC850's manual transmission option represents a bold statement about the importance of the human element in driving.

All 70 units were allocated before production began. Any available examples will be on the secondary market at significant premiums. Full Koenigsegg factory documentation and service history are essential. The ESS transmission is entirely new technology and requires Koenigsegg-trained technicians for service. Maintain factory relationship for support.

Limited to 70 units, initially announced as 50 but increased to 70 due to overwhelming demand. The Engage Shift System was developed entirely in-house. Production began in 2023 at the Angelholm factory. Each car requires approximately 6 months of hand assembly.
