Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2)

The 991.2-generation GT2 RS was the most powerful and fastest road-legal 911 Porsche had ever produced. It combined the ferocity of twin turbocharging with the purity of rear-wheel drive, creating a car of extraordinary performance capability that demanded — and rewarded — serious driving skill.

The powertrain centered on a comprehensively upgraded version of the 3,800cc twin-turbo flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. Larger turbochargers with optimized compressor wheels, a revised intake system, larger intercoolers, and a lightweight titanium exhaust system lifted output to 700 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. Peak torque was 750 Nm, available from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm — providing a massive wave of thrust that built with relentless intensity.

The decision to route all that power through the rear wheels only was deliberate and meaningful. By deleting the front drive axle, Porsche saved approximately 35 kg and fundamentally altered the car's character. The GT2 RS was more responsive to steering inputs, more adjustable mid-corner, and more demanding of driver skill than the all-wheel-drive Turbo S. It was a car that flattered the skilled and punished the overconfident.

The PDK seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox was the sole transmission, engineered for maximum performance with ultra-fast shifts and specific calibration for the GT2 RS. Launch control enabled devastating standing-start acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 8.3 seconds.

Aerodynamics were aggressive and functional. The massive carbon-fiber rear wing generated substantial downforce, while the front splitter, NACA ducts in the carbon-fiber bonnet, and rear diffuser managed airflow to reduce lift and provide cooling. The optional Weissach Package added carbon-fiber anti-roll bars, a magnesium roof, and lightweight wheels, reducing weight by an additional 30 kg.

The GT2 RS's crowning achievement was its 6:47.3 Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time, making it the fastest road-legal car to ever lap the circuit at the time. This extraordinary performance, combined with limited production numbers, has made the GT2 RS one of the most desirable modern Porsches.

Complete Porsche Centre service history is essential. Weissach Package cars are more valuable and more track-focused. Inspect carbon-fiber components for damage — repairs are extremely costly. Check PDK adaptation values and clutch wear indicators. PCCB ceramic brakes should show no signs of overheating. Low-mileage examples command substantial premiums.

Produced at Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory from 2017 to 2019. Total production was limited to approximately 1,000 units globally. The optional Weissach Package was fitted to roughly half of all cars produced.
