Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI TME

The Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition was the most refined and focused version of the CP9A-generation Lancer Evolution. Released in January 2000, it celebrated the remarkable achievement of Tommi Makinen's four consecutive World Rally Championship drivers' titles in Mitsubishi Lancers.

The 4G63T 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC engine produced 280 PS at 6,500 rpm and 373 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The TME-specific upgrade was a turbocharger with a titanium-aluminide turbine wheel, which was lighter than the standard steel turbine. This reduced rotational inertia by approximately 50%, resulting in noticeably faster spool-up and reduced lag. The ECU was recalibrated to take advantage of the improved response.

The drivetrain featured the full-time AWD system with ACD (Active Center Differential) and AYC (Active Yaw Control). The AYC system used electronically controlled clutch packs in the rear differential to actively transfer torque between the left and right rear wheels, improving corner-exit traction and allowing the car to rotate on throttle application. The close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox was shared with the Evo VI RS.

The TME received specific suspension calibration with RS-spec springs and dampers, providing a firmer, more communicative ride. The steering was quickened for improved response, and Brembo four-piston front calipers provided consistent stopping power.

Visually, the TME was distinguished by its revised front bumper with a central intake for the front-mounted oil cooler, TME-specific badging, and the choice of Scotia White or Passion Red exterior colors. Inside, red Recaro bucket seats and a red-accented center console immediately identified the TME.

The TME was sold exclusively in the Japanese domestic market and is now one of the most desirable Evolutions. Its combination of WRC heritage, titanium-turbine turbo, and focused chassis calibration makes it the definitive Evo VI variant.

Same as the other TME listing. Verify all TME-specific components: titanium turbine turbo, red Recaros, close-ratio box, front oil cooler. Crankwalk check is essential on the 4G63. AYC system function verification is critical. Import documentation for non-JDM markets. Unmodified cars are exceedingly rare.

Produced at Mitsubishi's plant in Japan, released in January 2000 as a limited production run of approximately 2,500 units for the Japanese domestic market only.
