Volkswagen Beetle 1303 S Rally

Volkswagen's 1303 S Rally represented the sportiest iteration of the iconic Beetle, created to homologate rally equipment and appeal to performance enthusiasts. While retaining the familiar air-cooled flat-four, the Rally variant featured distinctive Sport wheels, Rally stripes, upgraded instrumentation, and a sportier suspension setup. The curved windscreen and MacPherson strut front suspension of the 1303 series provided improved handling over earlier Beetles. With limited production and period charm, these Rally Beetles have become sought-after collectibles representing the final flowering of the classic Beetle design.

Verify Rally-specific equipment including Sport wheels, striping, and upgraded trim. Check chassis for rust particularly in floor pans, heater channels, and front beam. Original examples with documented Rally specification command premiums. Parts generally available due to massive Beetle aftermarket.

The 1303 series introduced the curved panoramic windscreen and MacPherson strut front suspension. Rally variant was built in limited numbers primarily for European markets. Production ended in 1975 for Germany, though Beetles continued in Mexico and Brazil for decades.
