Studebaker Avanti R2

Designed in just 40 days by legendary industrial designer Raymond Loewy, the Avanti featured radical styling with no grille and a fiberglass body. The R2 supercharged variant used a Paxton centrifugal supercharger to produce 289 horsepower, making it one of America's fastest production cars. Andy Granatelli's team set 29 speed records at Bonneville, including breaking 170 mph, proving the Avanti's exceptional aerodynamics and performance capabilities.

$45,000 – $125,000

Inspect fiberglass body for cracks and repairs. R2 and R3 supercharged models most desirable. Verify authenticity of supercharger components.

Featured innovative fiberglass body construction. Production delays plagued launch due to body manufacturing issues at Molded Fiber Glass Company.
