The Studebaker Starlight Coupe's avant-garde styling came from renowned industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Its most distinctive feature was the wraparound rear window that provided exceptional visibility and a space-age appearance. The clean, low lines looked more European than typical American fare, earning critical acclaim and strong initial sales. However, the radical styling proved polarizing, and some critics joked they couldn't tell if it was coming or going.
