Edsel Citation
Ford's Edsel division launched with great fanfare but faced immediate market rejection due to controversial styling and quality issues. The top-line Citation featured the powerful 410 cubic inch E-475 V8 engine and innovative Teletouch push-button transmission controls mounted in the steering wheel hub. Despite genuine innovation and impressive performance, poor timing and the horse-collar grille design doomed the brand to failure after just three model years.
Verify Teletouch transmission functions properly. Check for rust in lower body panels. Parts availability limited but dedicated Edsel clubs help.
Edsel brand created as separate Ford division. Featured Teletouch push-button transmission and rotating drum speedometer. Brand discontinued after 1960 model year.
