Polestar 6 Electric Roadster
The Polestar 6 represents the Swedish-Chinese brand's most ambitious vehicle to date — a dedicated electric roadster that aims to combine supercar-level performance with the emotional appeal of open-top driving and zero emissions. Based on the Polestar O2 concept that debuted in 2022 to unanimous critical praise, the production 6 retains much of the concept's stunning proportions and was confirmed for a 2026 production start.
The powertrain features a dual-motor AWD system producing a combined 884 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, making the Polestar 6 one of the most powerful electric roadsters ever announced. Built on an 800-volt architecture with a 100 kWh battery pack, the 6 is designed for both straight-line speed and extended grand touring range. Polestar targets a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.
The body features an electrically operated hardtop convertible roof that can open or close at speeds up to 50 km/h. The aluminum-intensive body structure uses bonded and riveted construction techniques to maintain rigidity despite the open-top configuration — structural stiffness was a primary engineering priority. The low, wide proportions sit on a 2,660 mm wheelbase, and the overall length of 4,585 mm makes the 6 more compact than the Polestar 5 GT sedan.
The chassis features double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension with electronically controlled adaptive dampers. Carbon ceramic brakes by Akebono provide fade-free stopping power. The suspension geometry was developed in collaboration with Polestar's motorsport engineering partners, and the car features adjustable regenerative braking mapped to drive modes.
Inside, the Polestar 6 continues the brand's Scandinavian design philosophy with sustainable materials, a minimalist layout, and a digital cockpit featuring a driver-focused instrument display and a central infotainment screen running on Polestar's Android Automotive OS platform. The interior adapts between open and closed configurations with wind management systems that allow comfortable conversation at highway speeds with the top down.
The Polestar 6 LA Concept edition, limited to 500 units, was announced alongside the production car and sold out within a week of being offered. The standard production model follows with a less restricted allocation. The 6 positions Polestar as a genuine performance brand rather than merely an electric-car spinoff, and its striking design ensures that Polestar will be taken seriously in the same breath as Porsche, Aston Martin, and Ferrari.
As a new model, no used examples exist yet. The LA Concept edition is already sold out and will command premiums. Standard production allocations may have waiting lists. Verify specification carefully as options significantly affect the car's character. Consider the 800V charging infrastructure in your area. Carbon ceramic brake replacement will be expensive. The hardtop mechanism adds complexity that should be tested thoroughly on delivery.
