Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition

The Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition (TME) celebrated Finnish rally legend Tommi Makinen's unprecedented four consecutive World Rally Championship drivers' titles from 1996-1999, all achieved in Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions. This special edition featured extensive modifications over the standard Evo VI. The 4G63 turbocharged engine received a titanium-bladed turbocharger for quicker spool and reduced lag, revised ECU mapping, and enhanced cooling. Power output remained at the gentleman's agreement 280 horsepower, but actual output was closer to 300hp with significantly improved power delivery. The Active Yaw Control all-wheel-drive system received fine-tuning for better response. Suspension featured Bilstein dampers with revised spring rates and the front end geometry was modified to reduce understeer. Aerodynamic changes included a revised front bumper with larger air intakes and a more aggressive rear spoiler. The exterior displayed unique Tommi Makinen Edition graphics and was available in distinctive red and white livery. Recaro seats with Makinen branding, an aluminum shift knob, and additional instrumentation distinguished the interior. Only produced for the 2000 model year as a tribute edition, the TME is considered the most desirable Evo VI variant and among the most collectible Evolutions of any generation.
