Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (BCNR33)

The R33 Skyline GT-R arrived in 1995 as the evolution of the legendary R32, and while it is sometimes overshadowed by its predecessor and successor, the R33 was in many ways the most complete GT-R of the original trilogy. The V-Spec (Victory Specification) variant was the driver's choice, featuring active LSD, Brembo brakes, revised ATTESA E-TS Pro all-wheel-drive system, and 17-inch wheels. Under the hood, the legendary RB26DETT — a 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six — produced the gentleman's agreement 280 horsepower (though actual output was widely believed to exceed 320 hp). The R33's biggest moment came when Nissan's test driver Hiroyoshi Kato recorded a 7:59.84 lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife — the first production car to break the 8-minute barrier and faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo of the era. The R33 was larger and heavier than the R32 but compensated with improved aerodynamics, better high-speed stability, and a more refined cabin. The ATTESA E-TS Pro system with an active rear limited-slip differential provided extraordinary traction and adjustability. Today, the R33 GT-R is the most affordable of the three original GT-Rs and represents exceptional value in the Japanese performance car market.

Check for modifications — many R33s have been heavily tuned. Unmodified, low-mileage examples command premium prices. The RB26DETT is extremely strong but check for turbo wear and boost leaks. ATTESA E-TS system should engage smoothly (test on gravel if possible). Rust can affect sills, wheel arches, and boot floor. Check for accident repair. Import legality varies by country (25-year rule in USA from 2020).

16,422 R33 GT-R models were produced. The V-Spec was the performance-oriented variant. A small number of R33 GT-Rs were officially imported to the UK as the Skyline GT-R V-Spec, making them the first officially sold GT-Rs outside Japan.
