History
Mazda Familia GT-R
The Mazda Familia GT-R (known as 323 GT-R in some markets) was Mazda's underdog entry into the rally homologation special category. Powered by a turbocharged 1.8L BP engine and featuring a viscous-coupled full-time 4WD system, it offered impressive performance in a practical four-door package. Its relatively modest appearance belied serious rally heritage and engineering sophistication. The GT-R variant is extremely rare even in Japan, with most examples having been consumed by motorsport activities, making surviving street examples highly prized by Mazda enthusiasts.
