History
Mitsubishi Starion Turbo
The Starion represented Mitsubishi's interpretation of the turbocharged sports coupe formula, featuring the robust Sirius engine with sophisticated electronic fuel injection and intercooling. Its aggressive widebody stance and pop-up headlights captured 1980s design aesthetics while the turbocharged powerplant delivered strong acceleration and turbo era drama. The name supposedly resulted from a mistranslation of 'Stallion', but the car's performance credentials spoke for themselves through Group A racing success. Later models with larger 2.6-liter engines pushed power over 200 hp, making the Starion a formidable competitor in the turbocharged sports coupe wars.
