History
AMC Javelin AMX
The AMC Javelin AMX proved independent manufacturers could compete in the pony car wars with distinctive design and genuine performance. Mark Donohue's Trans-Am racing success in 1971-1972 brought credibility to the street AMX models. The 401 cubic inch V8 delivered 285 horsepower, making it competitive with offerings from the Big Three. Despite limited marketing budgets, AMC created a true enthusiast's car with unique styling that has earned cult status among collectors today.
