Triumph TR6 PI

Introduced in 1968, the TR6 featured bold Karmann-designed bodywork with a distinctive chiseled appearance that replaced the curvaceous TR4 and TR5. UK and European models benefited from Lucas mechanical fuel injection producing 150 hp, while US versions were detuned to 104 hp due to emissions regulations. The TR6 offered excellent low-end torque, refined handling with independent rear suspension, and practicality with its removable hardtop and decent boot space. It became the best-selling TR model and remains highly popular among classic car enthusiasts today.

Check for rust in chassis rails, sills, inner wings, and floorpans. Lucas fuel injection system can be troublesome but is desirable. Verify matching numbers. Independent rear suspension bushings wear. Many US-spec cars have been converted to PI spec. Overdrive gearbox is highly desirable. Original hardtops add value.

94,619 TR6 models were built from 1968 to 1976. UK/European models had fuel injection and 150 hp, while US models used carburetors and produced only 104 hp due to emissions requirements. Final year was 1976 before being replaced by the TR7.
