Land Rover Range Rover SV P530 L460

The fifth-generation Range Rover, code-named L460 and launched in 2022, is widely regarded as one of the most successfully designed luxury vehicles of the modern era. Chief designer Gerry McGovern's restrained, minimalist exterior successfully distilled the Range Rover's essence into a form of remarkable visual sophistication that immediately established it as one of the most elegant vehicles on sale.

The L460 was built on the new MLA-Flex (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform, which was designed from the outset to accommodate petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. The range-topping P530 uses a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 523 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, replacing the outgoing Jaguar-designed 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

The SV (Special Vehicle) specification adds bespoke interior trims, unique exterior treatments, and access to SV's Bespoke commissioning service for near-limitless personalization. The long-wheelbase SV features a fixed rear seat configuration with individual chairs, deployable tables, and an entertainment system rivalling business-class air travel.

Technologically, the L460 introduced several innovations to the Range Rover lineage. The Integrated Chassis Control system coordinates the air suspension, electronic active roll control, all-wheel steering (rear wheels can turn up to 7 degrees), and the electronic active differential to create a vehicle that handles with remarkable poise despite its considerable dimensions. The all-wheel steering reduces the turning circle to just 10.95 metres — comparable to a compact hatchback.

The interior features a curved 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster, and available rear-seat touchscreens. The cabin materials include natural finishes such as Ultrafabrics (a sustainable alternative to leather), ceramic controls, and real metal surfaces. Active noise cancellation, quadruple-glazed acoustic glass, and extensive sound insulation create one of the quietest cabins on the road.

The Terrain Response 2 system with Configurable Programs ensures the L460 maintains the Range Rover's legendary off-road capability, including 900mm wading depth and electronic air suspension that can raise the vehicle for ground clearance or lower it for ease of entry.

The Range Rover Electric, expected in the near future, will share the L460's platform, ensuring the nameplate's relevance in the electric era. For now, the P530 V8 represents the ultimate expression of the combustion-powered Range Rover — a vehicle that successfully merges cutting-edge technology with timeless British luxury.

$200,000 – $350,000

As a relatively new model, the L460 should be in excellent condition. The BMW B58-derived V8 is well-proven but check for any early-production issues. All-wheel steering system should be tested for smooth operation. Air suspension and electronic active roll control are complex systems — verify correct function. Check all technology features including the infotainment screens, cameras, and driver assistance systems. Full JLR service history is essential. Running costs are very high. The P530 V8 is expected to hold value better than six-cylinder variants due to its performance appeal. SV specification adds significant value.

Fifth generation launched 2022 on MLA-Flex platform. BMW-sourced 4.4L twin-turbo V8 replaced Jaguar 5.0L SC V8. All-wheel steering standard. Built at Solihull. SV specification via Special Vehicle Operations. Designed by Gerry McGovern. Electric version planned.
