Genesis GV60 Performance

The Genesis GV60 Performance, introduced in 2022, is the most technologically advanced vehicle in the Genesis lineup and one of the most distinctive luxury electric crossovers on the market. Built on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP 800-volt platform, it shares its electrical architecture with the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 but wraps it in Genesis's premium design language and luxury appointments.

The Performance variant packs dual electric motors producing a combined 429 horsepower and an enormous 516 lb-ft of torque in standard mode. A Boost function temporarily raises output to 483 horsepower for ten seconds, enabling a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds. This makes the GV60 Performance one of the quickest vehicles Genesis has ever produced.

The GV60's most talked-about feature is its Drift Mode. Activated through a specific sequence, this mode unlocks the rear motor to allow controlled oversteer, effectively turning the luxury crossover into a rear-biased performance machine. While clearly a party trick, it demonstrates the sophistication of the electronic torque distribution system and its ability to completely reshape the car's handling character.

Design is where the GV60 breaks new ground for Genesis. The Crest Grille evolves into a closed-off design appropriate for an electric vehicle, while two-line LED headlights and taillights continue the Genesis design signature. The interior features the Crystal Sphere, a rotating orb that serves as the gear selector and ambient lighting element, transforming the cabin into something that feels more like a luxury lounge than a conventional car interior.

The 800-volt architecture enables fast charging at up to 350 kW, with a 10 to 80 percent charge taking approximately 18 minutes. Range from the 77.4 kWh battery is approximately 235 miles EPA, sufficient for most daily use. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows the GV60 to power external devices.

Genesis's commitment to luxury is evident in the interior materials and features. Bang & Olufsen premium audio, heated and ventilated leather seats, a retractable heads-up display, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features are all included. The cabin is exceptionally quiet, benefiting from both the inherently silent electric powertrain and extensive sound insulation.

The GV60 Performance represents Genesis's vision of the electric luxury future: rapid, refined, and filled with thoughtful details that distinguish it from the mass-market EVs sharing its platform.

As a newer model, verify battery health and charging capability. The 800V system requires compatible fast chargers for maximum speed. Drift Mode should be tested in a controlled environment. Adaptive dampers should be checked across all modes. Genesis offers excellent warranty coverage. Software updates improve functionality over time. Check for any recall-related updates.

Built on the E-GMP platform shared with Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 at Hyundai's Ulsan plant. Genesis-specific tuning for ride, handling, and noise insulation. The Crystal Sphere gear selector was designed specifically for the GV60. Face recognition entry system is a Genesis first.
