BYD Seal Performance AWD

The BYD Seal represents a bold statement from China's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, a car designed from the ground up to compete with the Tesla Model 3 on the global stage. Launched in 2022, the Seal is built on BYD's e-platform 3.0, an 800-volt architecture that enables rapid charging and exceptional efficiency. The name references the ocean-themed naming convention BYD adopted for its premium electric lineup, and the car's flowing design language draws unmistakable inspiration from marine life.

At the heart of the Seal Performance AWD lies a dual-motor setup producing a combined 523 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque, fed by BYD's revolutionary Cell-to-Body (CTB) Blade Battery pack with 82.56 kWh capacity. The Blade Battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, is integrated directly into the vehicle's structure, improving both rigidity and crash safety while eliminating the traditional battery casing. This innovation gives the Seal a claimed CLTC range of 650 kilometers, though real-world figures typically settle around 500 km in mixed driving.

The chassis employs double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear setup, with an intelligent torque vectoring system that distributes power between the front and rear axles. The result is remarkably agile handling for a car weighing over 2,100 kilograms. BYD's iTAC intelligent torque control system can shift torque in just 50 milliseconds, faster than most competitors' systems.

Inside, the Seal features a minimalist cabin dominated by a rotating 15.6-inch central touchscreen that can switch between portrait and landscape orientations. The interior materials show a significant step up from earlier BYD products, with genuine leather, Nappa trim on higher grades, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The front seats are heated and ventilated, and a Dynaudio premium sound system is available.

The BYD Seal has been a commercial success in China and is now exported to Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Latin America. In several markets, it undercuts the Tesla Model 3 on price while offering comparable or superior specifications. The Seal's significance extends beyond its own sales figures: it represents China's emergence as a serious competitor in the global premium electric vehicle market.

Check battery health report and charging history. Verify software is updated to latest firmware. Inspect panel gaps which can vary. Test the rotating screen mechanism for smooth operation. Check for any water ingress around charging port. Ensure all driver assistance features are calibrated. Verify warranty transferability if buying used — BYD offers 8-year battery warranty in most markets.

Built on BYD's e-platform 3.0 with 800V architecture. Uses Cell-to-Body Blade Battery technology integrating the battery pack into the vehicle structure. Manufactured at BYD's Shenzhen factory alongside other ocean-series models. Export versions for Europe and Australia have slightly different specifications to meet local regulations.
