Tramontana R Edition
The Tramontana R is one of the most extraordinary and least known supercars ever produced. Built in tiny numbers in Girona, Catalonia, by a small team led by designer Josep Rubau, the Tramontana drew its inspiration from fighter jets and Formula 1 cars, featuring tandem seating (driver in front, passenger behind) under a canopy that hinges forward for entry — exactly like a military aircraft.
Powered by a Mercedes-Benz AMG-derived 5.5-liter V12 twin-turbo engine producing 720 horsepower, the Tramontana R could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 mph. The carbon fiber monocoque construction kept weight to 1,268 kg, giving the car a power-to-weight ratio that rivaled the Bugatti Veyron.
The interior was bespoke for each customer, with options ranging from leather and carbon fiber to gold leaf and precious stones. Each Tramontana was built to individual specification, making every car unique. The fighter jet-style cockpit included a heads-up display and instrumentation designed to evoke a military aircraft.
With approximately 12 units built, the Tramontana R is among the rarest supercars in existence. It represents an audacious vision — a small Spanish company creating one of the world's most extreme road cars. While it never achieved the fame of Italian or British supercars, the Tramontana R remains a testament to the possibilities when passion and engineering talent converge without commercial compromise.
With only 12 built, buying opportunities are extraordinarily rare. Each car is unique — verify specification against Tramontana factory records. Carbon fiber monocoque should be inspected for impact damage. AMG V12 servicing requires specialist knowledge. Sequential gearbox may need actuator attention. The tandem seating configuration is not for everyone — try before you buy. Storage and servicing require specialist facilities.
