Pontiac Fiero GT V6

After two years of criticism for poor handling, Pontiac completely redesigned the Fiero's suspension for 1986. The new setup with WS6 components transformed the mid-engine two-seater into a legitimate sports car that could challenge MR2 and Fiat X1/9. The GT model featured aggressive ground effects, composite body panels, and the 2.8L V6. Unfortunately, just as Pontiac perfected the Fiero, GM killed it after 1988.

Avoid 1984 models - the 1986+ suspension is vastly superior. Check for engine fires (early models had issues). Verify suspension bushings and check for rust in steel frame. Manual transmission preferred. Parts availability is good through Fiero specialists.

The 1986 redesign fixed the Fiero's handling problems but came too late to save the model. The GT package added distinctive ground effects and aero styling. All Fieros featured composite body panels on a steel space frame, making them rust-resistant.
