FSO Polonez 1500
The FSO Polonez represented Poland's ambitious entry into modern car design, featuring bodywork styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign. Built on Fiat 125p running gear with a robust rear-wheel drive platform, it offered practical five-door hatchback versatility unusual for its time. The car gained reputation for durability and was successfully exported to numerous countries, even competing in Western European markets. Despite its promising start, production quality issues and outdated mechanicals eventually limited its commercial success.
