History
FSO Polonez
Designed in collaboration with Italian styling house Giugiaro, the FSO Polonez marked Poland's ambition to create an original automobile rather than licensed copies. Built on Fiat 125p underpinnings with various engine options, it offered practical hatchback versatility unusual for Eastern Bloc cars. The Polonez achieved success in rallying and was exported to numerous countries. Despite economic challenges and evolving competition, production continued for 24 years, making it one of the longest-running Eastern European car programs and a symbol of Polish automotive independence.
