Aston Martin V8 Vantage V8 Vantage

Dubbed 'Britain's First Supercar' by the motoring press, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was introduced in 1977 as an ultra-high-performance variant of the V8 saloon. With 375 hp from its 5.3-liter V8 fed by four Weber carburetors, it was briefly the world's fastest production sedan with a claimed top speed of 170 mph. The Vantage featured aggressive styling with blanked-off grille, bonnet power bulge, wider wheel arches, and optional rear spoiler. Hand-built at Newport Pagnell over 12 years, just 534 examples were produced, each requiring 1,200 man-hours. The thunderous V8 and brute performance defined 1980s supercar character. Later fuel-injected versions gained more refinement but less character. Today, these hand-crafted British muscle machines are among the most coveted classic Aston Martins, representing a golden era of Newport Pagnell craftsmanship.

Essential to verify matching numbers and complete history. Early Weber-carbureted cars (1977-1986) are most desirable but require expert maintenance. Check for rust in sills, floors, and boot. Verify engine rebuild history as these units require expensive overhauls every 50-60k miles. Ensure correct specification as many have been modified. Authentic cars with documented provenance command significant premiums. Budget for ongoing specialist maintenance costs.
