Hyundai Pony
The Hyundai Pony was a watershed moment for South Korean industry, being the country's first domestically produced car for export. Styled by Italdesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro with Mitsubishi mechanicals, it combined European design, Japanese reliability, and Korean manufacturing. The Pony established Hyundai as an automaker and opened Western markets to Korean cars. Its success laid the foundation for South Korea's emergence as a major automotive nation, though it never sold in the United States.
