History
Toyota Corona Mark II GSS
The Corona Mark II GSS offered American-inspired hardtop styling in a compact Japanese package, featuring pillarless construction and elegant proportions. Its twin-carburetor 18R engine provided strong performance, while the long-stroke design delivered torque suitable for relaxed cruising. The Mark II nameplate eventually became independent from Corona, evolving into its own luxury model line. This generation established Toyota's competence in the premium compact segment, competing against Nissan Laurel and Mazda Luce.
