History
Toyota Publica Convertible
The Publica Convertible offered open-air motoring in Toyota's most basic economy car platform, creating an unusual combination of austerity and fun. Its air-cooled horizontally-opposed twin engine provided simplicity and reliability, while the lightweight construction ensured adequate performance despite minimal power. The full convertible top and simple interior made it ideal for sunny weekend drives. Very few were built compared to sedan versions, making survivors extremely rare and charming examples of 1960s Japanese automotive optimism.
