Aston Martin DB4 GT

The Aston Martin DB4 GT was the competition derivative of the already stunning DB4, designed specifically to win the World Sportscar Championship. Under the direction of racing manager John Wyer, the DB4 GT featured a 5-inch shorter wheelbase, a thinner-gauge aluminum body (still using the Superleggera system by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan), faired-in headlamps, and a twin-plug cylinder head with triple Weber 45DCOE carburetors producing 302 bhp. The car was 90 kg lighter than the standard DB4 and significantly faster, capable of 153 mph. The DB4 GT scored notable race victories, including Stirling Moss's famous win at Silverstone in 1959. An even more extreme version, the DB4 GT Zagato with a body by the Italian coachbuilder, is one of the most valuable Aston Martins ever produced. The standard DB4 GT was built in just 75 examples between 1959 and 1963, making it rare and highly sought after. Its combination of beauty, racing heritage, and exclusivity places it among the greatest front-engine GT cars ever built. The Tadek Marek-designed straight-six engine would go on to power the DB5 and DB6, becoming the heart of the David Brown-era Aston Martins.

Rarity means every car is well-known. Check Superleggera tube framework for corrosion beneath aluminum skin. Verify twin-plug head is original. Racing history adds significant value. DB4 GT Zagatos are in a different price league entirely (£10m+).

75 DB4 GTs built (excluding 19 Zagato-bodied cars). Superleggera construction: thin aluminum panels over steel tube framework. Twin-plug cylinder head unique to GT.
