History
Ferrari 340 America
The 340 America was Ferrari's first model specifically marketed toward American customers, featuring the large-displacement Lampredi V12 rather than Colombo's smaller design. Only 22 chassis were built, each receiving unique coachwork from Italian masters including Touring, Vignale, Ghia, and Pininfarina. Several examples were built for racing, achieving success at Le Mans and in American sports car racing. The 340 America represents an important stepping stone in Ferrari's evolution from pure racing constructor to manufacturer of exclusive road cars. Its extreme rarity and racing pedigree make surviving examples extraordinarily valuable.
