Lamborghini Huracan Performante

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante arrived in 2017 and immediately set the production car lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife: 6:52.01, beating the Porsche 918 Spyder. The secret was the ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) active aerodynamics system, which could independently vector downforce between the front and rear, and even between left and right sides of the car, improving corner turn-in. Combined with a revised version of the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 producing 640 bhp — with forged internals, titanium intake valves, and a lighter exhaust — the Performante delivered staggering track performance. The V10 engine, one of the last naturally aspirated engines in supercar production, revved to 8,500 rpm with a spine-tingling scream that turbocharged rivals couldn't match. The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox fired off shifts in milliseconds, and the Performante's AWD system could send up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels for playful handling. Weight was reduced by 40 kg through extensive use of forged carbon fiber — a Lamborghini innovation where chopped carbon fiber is compression-molded into complex shapes, used for the spoiler, engine cover, and interior trim. The Huracan Performante proved that Lamborghini could build a car that was not just dramatic but genuinely world-class in performance terms.

$200,000 – $380,000

V10 engine is Audi-derived and relatively reliable. Dual-clutch gearbox robust. Carbon ceramic brakes expensive to replace. MagneRide dampers need specialist attention. Performante is the driver's choice. Check for track use — consumables costs are very high.
