Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera was Lamborghini's answer for customers who wanted the most extreme version of their baby supercar. The name 'Superleggera' — Italian for 'super light' — paid homage to the legendary Touring Superleggera coachbuilding company, and the car earned the title through aggressive weight reduction and increased power.

The 5,204cc V10 engine received revised intake and exhaust tuning to extract 570 horsepower at 8,000 rpm — a 10 hp increase over the LP 560-4. More significantly, the Superleggera weighed 70 kg less than the standard car, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber for the engine cover, rear diffuser, side mirrors, door panels, interior trim, and rear wing. The fixed rear wing was a distinctive visual identifier, replacing the standard car's retractable spoiler.

The weight reduction had a transformative effect on dynamics. The Superleggera changed direction with sharper precision, braked later, and accelerated harder than the standard LP 560-4. The e-gear automated manual gearbox was the sole transmission, calibrated for faster shifts and more aggressive behavior in Corsa (race) mode.

The chassis received stiffer springs and revalved dampers, lowering the ride height and reducing body roll. Lightweight 19-inch Scorpius forged wheels reduced unsprung mass, improving both ride quality and handling response. The brakes were upgraded with carbon-ceramic discs, providing phenomenal stopping power with excellent fade resistance.

Inside, the Superleggera featured lightweight fixed-back carbon-fiber racing seats, Alcantara-trimmed surfaces, and a simplified instrument cluster. Air conditioning and the audio system were deleted to save weight, though they could be optioned back at no cost. The overall cabin atmosphere was purposeful and focused.

The Superleggera could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 325 km/h. More importantly, it lapped circuits significantly faster than the standard Gallardo, proving that the weight reduction program was genuine rather than cosmetic.

Approximately 618 Superleggeras were produced between 2010 and 2013, making it one of the more exclusive Gallardo variants. Today, the Superleggera commands a significant premium over standard Gallardos, valued for its enhanced performance, reduced weight, and more focused driving experience.

All standard Gallardo concerns apply, plus check carbon-ceramic brake condition (expensive to replace). E-gear system reliability is critical — budget for potential actuator rebuild. Carbon-fiber body components should be inspected for delamination or damage. Racing seats may be uncomfortable for larger drivers. Verify all lightweight components are present and original.

Produced at Lamborghini's Sant'Agata Bolognese factory from 2010 to 2013. Approximately 618 units were built. The Superleggera name was previously used on the first-generation Gallardo lightweight variant.
