The McLaren F1 LM represents the absolute pinnacle of the already legendary F1 lineage. Built to commemorate McLaren's remarkable overall victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, only five F1 LM examples were created. The LM featured the GTR race car's unrestricted 6.1-liter BMW V12 producing 680 hp (compared to 627 hp in standard F1), along with enhanced aerodynamics including fixed rear wing, front splitter, and racing-derived suspension. Weight was reduced through elimination of sound deadening and luxury features. The carbon fiber monocoque chassis remained, as did Gordon Murray's revolutionary central driving position flanked by two passenger seats. With just 2,223 pounds and 680 hp, the LM achieved hypercar performance that remained unmatched for decades. Each car was finished in unique specifications for its owner. Today, the F1 LM is considered one of the most valuable and collectible automobiles ever built, with values exceeding $20 million. It represents the ultimate expression of 1990s analog hypercar engineering.
