History
Subaru Legacy RS Type RA (BC5)
The Legacy RS Type RA served as Subaru's Group A rally homologation model, featuring the turbocharged EJ20 boxer engine producing 220hp in a lightweight sedan package. RA specification meant reduced sound deadening, deletion of rear wiper, and focus on performance over comfort. The symmetrical AWD system and low center of gravity from the boxer engine layout provided exceptional handling and traction. This generation established Subaru's rally credentials and led directly to the Impreza WRX development.
