AMC Concord AMX

The 1978 AMC Concord AMX represented AMC's effort to revive the legendary AMX name on a more practical and fuel-efficient platform. Based on the compact Concord coupe, the AMX package added distinctive graphics, upgraded suspension, sport seats, and optional 360 cubic inch V8. While not as powerful as the original AMX, the Concord AMX offered decent performance in the malaise era with distinctive styling. It was one of the last compact V8-powered cars available from an American manufacturer during this period.

$12,000 – $28,000

Relatively rare and often overlooked by collectors. Check for typical AMC rust issues in floor pans and quarters. Many had the weaker inline-six, so verify V8 option. Values are still reasonable for a collectible V8 coupe.

The Concord AMX was available only in 1978 as a two-door coupe. AMC was struggling financially during this period, and the AMX package was an attempt to boost sales with a performance image.
