Plymouth Road Runner 440+6 Air Grabber

The 1971 model year was the last hurrah for true high-compression muscle before emissions regulations neutered performance. Plymouth's 440+6 packed three Holley two-barrel carburetors on a massive 440 cubic inch V8, producing 385 HP. The Air Grabber hood featured a vacuum-operated scoop that popped up to feed cold air directly to the carbs. This was the final year for the legendary Six Pack engine and insurance industry pressure made these cars rare even when new.

Authenticity is critical - verify fender tag and VIN carefully as many clones exist. Original Air Grabber mechanism must work properly. Triple carburetors require expert tuning. Expect 8 mpg fuel consumption. Join Mopar clubs for documentation verification.

Only 246 Road Runners were built with the 440+6 engine in 1971, making it one of the rarest muscle cars. The combination of Air Grabber hood, pistol-grip Hurst shifter, and triple carbs created the ultimate factory hot rod. Emissions regulations killed the 440+6 after 1971.
