History
Holden Torana LC GTR XU-1
Developed by Harry Firth, the LC Torana GTR XU-1 featured a specially tuned 202 cubic inch inline-six engine with triple carburetors and performance camshaft. Weighing significantly less than V8 competitors, the XU-1's power-to-weight ratio made it incredibly competitive in racing, winning the 1972 Bathurst 500. The distinctive Orient Orange paint scheme and bold graphics made it instantly recognizable on Australian roads. The XU-1 proved that a well-engineered six-cylinder could compete with larger V8 muscle cars, creating a legendary reputation that endures today.
