History
Triumph 2.5 PI Mk2
The 2.5 PI represented Triumph's ambitious attempt to create a sporting executive saloon using Lucas mechanical fuel injection technology. When functioning correctly, it offered exhilarating performance with 120mph capability, making it faster than many contemporary sports cars. However, the Lucas PI system proved temperamental and required meticulous maintenance, earning the car a reputation for unreliability. The Mk2 addressed some early issues with improved injection metering and revised interior, but reliability concerns persisted throughout production.
