History
Intermeccanica Italia Spyder
Intermeccanica's Italia Spyder combined Italian styling and craftsmanship with reliable American V8 power, anticipating the modern supercar formula. Founded by Frank Reisner, the company built cars in Turin before moving production to California. The Italia featured a tubular chassis, fiberglass body designed by various Italian stylists, and Ford's powerful 351 Windsor V8. Production was limited and quality varied, with approximately 500 examples built across several years and specification changes. The Italia represents an interesting hybrid approach to sports car construction during an era of rapid change in the industry.
