History
Oldsmobile 442 W-30
The W-30 option transformed the already potent 442 into a drag strip dominator with cold-air induction, high-lift camshaft, hand-selected engine components, and aluminum intake manifold. Oldsmobile engineers built these with racing in mind, selecting only the best parts and blueprinting engines for maximum performance. The result was low 13-second quarter miles straight from the showroom. Unlike some muscle cars that were all show, W-30s delivered genuine performance that embarrassed competitors. Production numbers remained low as the expensive option package appealed primarily to serious racers.
