Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA

The GTA represented Alfa Romeo's commitment to homologation specials, stripping weight from Bertone's elegant Giulia Sprint GT coupe through aluminum body panels, plexiglass windows, and magnesium components. Autodelta's preparation included careful tuning of the twin-cam four-cylinder engine, revised suspension geometry, and weight reduction measures that brought the car well under 750kg. The GTA's combination of light weight, responsive handling, and reliable power made it virtually unbeatable in touring car competition during the late 1960s, with drivers like Andrea de Adamich achieving numerous victories against more powerful opposition. Road-going GTAs offered similar character with slightly less extreme specifications, creating one of the most desirable compact sports coupes of the era.
