Trabant P50 Limousine

The Trabant P50 inaugurated East Germany's answer to mass motorization, featuring groundbreaking Duroplast body panels and front-wheel drive in an ultra-compact package. Designed for maximum material efficiency during post-war shortages, every component was engineered for simplicity and low-cost production. The modest 500cc two-stroke engine provided barely adequate performance but exceptional fuel economy. This first-generation model established the Trabant formula that would remain essentially unchanged through 1990, making it one of history's longest-running automotive designs.
