BAC Mono R

The BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) Mono R is the most extreme expression of the Mono concept — a road-legal single-seat supercar that provides the closest thing to a Formula car experience available on public roads. Founded by brothers Neill and Ian Briggs in Liverpool, BAC designed the Mono from the outset as a single-seater, with the driver positioned centrally in a full carbon fiber tub. The Mono R takes the concept further with a new carbon fiber chassis that is 20% lighter than the original, a more powerful 2.3-liter Mountune turbocharged engine producing 340 hp, and extensive aerodynamic revisions. At just 555 kg, the Mono R achieves a power-to-weight ratio of 612 hp/ton — rivaling prototypes and formula cars. The pushrod-actuated double wishbone suspension is fully adjustable, while the Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox provides lightning-fast shifts. With no passenger seat, no radio, and no compromise, the Mono R is the purest expression of the driver-focused philosophy. It holds records at numerous circuits and has been road-registered in multiple countries, proving that the ultimate driving machine doesn't need to carry a passenger.

$180,000 – $300,000

Built to order with extensive customization. The Mountune engine is well-supported. Hewland sequential gearbox requires periodic specialist service. Carbon fiber tub inspection for crash damage is essential for used examples. Single-seat configuration means this is purely a driver's car — no passengers ever.

BAC produces each Mono to customer specification at their Liverpool facility. Each car is essentially built to order with extensive customization options. The company uses graphene-enhanced carbon fiber for structural components.
