History
VAM Lerma
Vehiculos Automotores Mexicanos (VAM) was the Mexican manufacturer of AMC vehicles with local modifications. The Lerma was based on AMC platforms but featured unique styling elements and equipment tailored to the Mexican market. VAM created several unique models never sold in the United States, adapting American engineering to local preferences and conditions. The company represented Mexico's automotive industry during the import-substitution era, though it eventually closed as the market liberalized in the late 1980s.
