History
DeLorean DMC-12
John DeLorean's ambitious sports car featured unpainted stainless steel bodywork over fiberglass, creating a distinctive appearance requiring no maintenance. Giugiaro's angular design and gullwing doors made it instantly recognizable, though the Renault V6 engine provided modest performance. Despite innovative engineering including a Lotus-developed chassis, financial troubles and legal issues ended production after approximately 9,000 units. The DMC-12's pop culture legacy far exceeds its commercial success, maintaining strong collector interest.
