History
DINA Runner
DINA (Diesel Nacional) attempted to establish Mexican automobile production with the Runner, based on Renault 12 technology. The state-owned company built these sedans in Hidalgo with modified styling and local content. Despite government support and protection, quality issues and high costs prevented success. DINA ceased automobile production in 1983, though the company continued building buses. The Runner remains a curiosity in Mexican automotive history.
