History
Porsche 912E
The Porsche 912E emerged as a response to American fuel crisis concerns and demand for a more affordable entry-level Porsche. Using the 2.0-liter fuel-injected four-cylinder from the VW 411, it was built on the G-series platform for just the 1976 model year exclusively for North America. Only 2,099 were produced, making it one of the rarest production 911-bodied Porsches. The 912E served as a stopgap until the 924 could be launched, but its brief production run and unique position in Porsche history have made it a sought-after collector's item among marque enthusiasts.
